Guard PIN SMS

Send guard app PINs by SMS when guards are added or reset.

PatrolSync can send a guard their app PIN by SMS so they can sign in quickly. The PIN is still shown once in the portal, giving admins a fallback if a text message cannot be delivered.

Quick summary
The essentials for organisation admins.
100 guard PIN SMS messages are included each month
Extra SMS credits can be bought in the portal
Purchased SMS credits stay available until they are used
PINs are still shown once in the portal as a fallback
How it works

SMS is there to make guard login faster, not more complicated.

A guard needs the PatrolSync Guard app, their mobile number, and their PIN. SMS helps get that PIN to them quickly while keeping admins in control.

1. Add the guard

Create the guard in the portal and save their mobile number. PatrolSync generates a 4-digit PIN when the guard is created.

2. PatrolSync sends the PIN

If a mobile number is saved and SMS credits are available, PatrolSync sends the PIN by SMS. The PIN is also shown once in the portal.

3. The guard signs in

The guard opens the PatrolSync Guard app, scans the site login QR code, and uses their PIN to start recording patrols.

Allowance and credits

Monthly allowance resets. Purchased credits roll over until used.

PatrolSync includes enough SMS for ordinary guard PIN setup. If an organisation needs more, admins can buy extra credits without losing them at month end.

Included allowance: 100 guard PIN SMS per organisation, per month
Extra credits: available in packs of 100, 500, or 1,000 SMS
Credit use: one PIN SMS normally uses one SMS credit
Rollover: purchased credits remain available until they are spent
Purpose: credits are for guard PIN messages, not bulk messaging
Common questions

Guard PIN SMS answers for admins.

What are guard PIN SMS messages used for?

Guard PIN SMS messages are used to send PatrolSync app PINs to guards when a guard is added or when their PIN is reset. They are not a general marketing or bulk messaging tool.

How many SMS messages are included?

Each PatrolSync organisation includes 100 guard PIN SMS messages per month. This monthly allowance resets each month.

What happens when the monthly allowance is used?

Organisation admins can buy extra SMS credits from the Account section in the portal. Extra credits stay available until they are used and do not disappear at the end of the month.

Does resetting a guard PIN send an SMS?

If the guard has a mobile number saved, PatrolSync will try to send the new PIN by SMS when the PIN is reset. The new PIN is also shown once in the portal so it can be stored securely or passed to the guard manually if needed.

What if a guard does not receive the SMS?

Check that the mobile number is correct, including the country format if needed. If the text still does not arrive, reset the PIN again or give the one-time PIN to the guard manually from the portal while it is visible.

Does SMS work in every country?

SMS delivery depends on supported countries, mobile networks and provider routing. PatrolSync still shows the PIN once in the portal, so guard setup can continue even if SMS is unavailable or a network rejects the message.
