COA compliance support

Stronger patrol records for COA-licensed security companies.

The Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority (PSPLA) requires individuals and companies in the New Zealand security industry to hold appropriate Certificates of Approval (COA) and operate to professional standards. PatrolSync helps your company build the kind of structured, verifiable patrol records that support those obligations.

Clear checkpoint records, timestamped patrol evidence, and professional client reports make it easier to demonstrate accountability — whether for your own internal standards, client contracts, or regulatory review under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010.

Understanding the PSPLA

What the PSPLA expects from licensed security contractors.

Under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010, individuals working in the New Zealand security industry must hold an appropriate Certificate of Approval (COA) issued by the PSPLA. COA licence classes include Property Guard, Crowd Controller, Personal Guard, Monitoring Officer, Security Technician, and Security Consultant.

Companies providing security services must also hold a company licence issued by the PSPLA. Licensed contractors are expected to operate to professional standards — maintaining appropriate records, employing appropriately licensed personnel, and being able to demonstrate that contracted work has been carried out.

Key PSPLA obligations for contractors
  • Hold a valid PSPLA company licence for the services provided
  • Employ only personnel holding the appropriate COA licence class
  • Maintain records of employee COA licensing and expiry dates
  • Keep proof of eligibility records for all security personnel
  • Operate to professional standards of service delivery
  • Be able to demonstrate compliance on request

How PatrolSync helps

Build the operational records that support your COA obligations.

PatrolSync doesn't replace your COA licence or internal procedures. But it gives your company the structured digital records that make it easier to demonstrate professional standards and accountability across your patrol operations throughout New Zealand.

Timestamped checkpoint records

Every patrol scan is recorded with the guard, site, checkpoint, and exact time — creating a verifiable audit trail of patrol activity that you can present to clients, auditors, or the PSPLA if needed.

Staff COA tracking

Store COA licence reference numbers, licence classes, and expiry dates for your security personnel. Get visibility of upcoming expirations so you can stay on top of licensing requirements across your team.

Professional client reports

Generate clear, professional activity reports with timestamps, checkpoint breakdowns, and independent verification — the kind of documentation that demonstrates professional standards to clients across New Zealand.

Independent report verification

Every report can include a Verification ID and QR code so clients, contract managers, and auditors can independently confirm the report is genuine.

GPS-backed patrol evidence

Optional GPS recording provides additional proof of attendance at patrol locations across New Zealand regions, strengthening your evidence of service delivery.

Compliance-ready exports

Export staff compliance records covering COA licence references and proof of eligibility dates — useful for internal audits, contract tenders, and regulatory review.

Built for COA-licensed security companies across New Zealand.

Whether you're running mobile patrols in Auckland, static guarding in Wellington, keyholding across the Canterbury region, or crowd control in Queenstown, PatrolSync helps you maintain professional operational records across every site and region.

Important note

PatrolSync is an operational tool that supports patrol recording, reporting, and accountability. It does not replace your company's PSPLA licence, COA requirements for individual personnel, internal procedures, employee licensing obligations, or legal and regulatory responsibilities.

New Zealand security companies should continue to operate in line with all applicable PSPLA requirements and the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010, as well as their own internal compliance processes.
